I am  Alpha Centauri a triple star system located just over 4 light years from Earth. I am the closest star system to you, other than the Sun as well as the nearest planetary system. Exciting stuff! 

Pictured in the egg are Alpha Centauri A and B, two suns that rotate around a common centre. My third star is called Alpha Centauri C or Proxima Centauri.

I am home to Proxima Centauri B, Earth’s closest Exoplanet –  a planet outside the Solar System. In humankind’s search for other life and habitable planets in the Universe you are looking to me, Alpha Centauri so I’m definitely a name you will want to remember.

Distances in space are so vast that we measure them in Light Years.. One light year is the distance a ray of light travels in one Earth year.. Travelling at the speed of light is unimaginably fast.
